Pitch, not delivered.

Loar connects people with local personal-care and beauty professionals.

- Company: Day One Technologies
- Timeline: 2019
- Platform: Mobile (iOS) plus a responsive marketing website
- Category: Beauty and wellness, local services marketplace
- Status: Pitch, not delivered
- Tools: Framer

## The proposition

Loar connects people with local personal-care and beauty professionals. The pitch copy leads with "Atiéndete Con Los Mejores" (be attended to by the best) and "Descubre a los mejores profesionales del cuidado personal cerca de ti" (discover the best personal-care professionals near you), so proximity and quality of practitioner are the two selling points.

The pitch covers both sides of launch: the app itself and a marketing website to drive downloads, with the web page carrying app store badges and an email capture.

## Design direction

Editorial and restrained, closer to a beauty magazine than a booking utility. Near-white grounds, elegant serif display type, and fine single-weight line-art illustration on the onboarding and web hero. Colour is used sparingly, a magenta accent for the primary action and the floating add button, against otherwise neutral surfaces. Where photography appears it is treated as a full-bleed editorial card rather than a thumbnail.

## What was designed

- Splash with the Loar wordmark, the O rendered as a gradient mark
- **Onboarding** with the value proposition, Facebook continue and create-account routes, an existing-user sign-in link, pagination, and terms acknowledgement
- **Personalised home** greeting the user by name, leading with an editorial feature card over a section heading inviting the user to treat themselves
- **Service categories** as icon tiles, including body treatments and hairdressing
- **Bottom navigation** across home, messaging, a central add action, calendar or bookings, and professionals
- **Marketing website** with a line-art hero, a six-card feature grid, an app download section with device mockup and store badges, an email signup, and footer

## What it demonstrates

Consumer marketplace design in a non-English market, and an editorial visual register applied to a services product. Also a launch-complete pitch, with app and acquisition site designed together rather than the app alone.
