( The pitch )

The proposition

A travel platform whose organising idea is who you travel with, not just where you go. The tagline "Details make Stories" sets the tone, and the search widget asks "Where would you like to go? and with whom", which is the whole pitch in one line. Trips carry the people already booked onto them, so a destination is presented as a group forming rather than an inventory item, and social proof (how many members have booked, how many are planning) sits directly on the trip card.

Design direction

Cinematic and aspirational. The hero is a photorealistic view of Earth from space with a sun flare on the horizon, over which traveller avatar clusters are pinned to real cities and joined by thin connecting lines, literally drawing the social graph across the globe. Below the fold the page switches to a light editorial layout with large destination photography, script-and-bold display typography, and a single red accent reserved for search and primary actions.

What was designed

  • Header with a how-it-works entry, login, and signup
  • Globe hero with city-pinned avatar clusters, tag counts per destination, and connecting lines
  • Search widget with three modes (HeyHoliday social travel, classic travel, and deals), destination, check-in and check-out dates, guest count, and a route to build a custom trip
  • "Top 25 HeyHoliday Trips" carousel with numbered, ranked destination cards over full-bleed photography
  • Social proof block showing member avatars of people already booked plus a count of those still planning
  • Destination detail with editorial description and a "Don't miss" list of landmarks and attractions
  • Themed discovery cards in a right rail, such as exotic beaches, alongside dated trip cards with departure windows and origin cities

What it demonstrates

Social-layer design applied to a transactional category: taking travel search, which is normally a filter-and-list problem, and rebuilding it around group formation and social proof. Also strong hero art direction, using a single ambitious visual device to carry the entire proposition before the user reads a word.
