The proposition

The open web returns an undifferentiated list of links and leaves the judgement to the reader, a poor fit for a safe-browsing, family, or moderated-discovery audience that needs to know what it is looking at before it clicks. The brief was to sell a search front end that does more than return results, one that rates every destination and hands the user a trusted guide to control what they see and share. The tagline states it plainly, a "Trusted Guide to control what you see and share", which positions the product for moderated discovery rather than as a general-purpose search engine.

Design direction

A search layer that scores the web rather than just indexing it. Results are grouped into Trusted and Untrusted bands with running counts, each destination sits on a card carrying a thumbnail, a category label, an 18+ maturity tag, and a per-site Trust toggle, and a category filter row (Photography, Pets, Gallery, Shopping, Medical, Social) with a Recent sort keeps a dense grid legible. The dark theme opens on a near-black hero with a photographic Earth-from-orbit image, a cyan accent, and a single large centred search field, which reads as premium and calm, and the light theme carries the same structure on white for the working results view, both anchored by a circular lowercase "a" logomark in cyan. A top navigation of Location, Store, Settings, Global, and Edit sits alongside a My Profile control. The whole direction was delivered in a dark and a light theme designed to parity, so theming was proven rather than implied. This was a pitch, so what shipped was the design direction, not a live product.

What was designed

  • Dark landing and search hero, a centred search field over an orbital-Earth photographic background with the Agingo mark and primary navigation
  • Light landing and search variant, the same hero structure rendered on a white ground
  • Search results page, grouped into Trusted and Untrusted bands with running counts, a category filter row, and a Recent sort control
  • Result cards, each with a thumbnail, site name, category, an 18+ maturity tag, and a per-site Trust toggle
  • Full light and dark theming, carried consistently across the landing and the results view

What it demonstrates

The clearest theming work in the pitch set, with a dark and a light theme designed to parity rather than one derived from the other. Also a strong example of trust and safety UX: turning an ordinary search results page into a rating surface through banded grouping, maturity tags, and per-item trust controls, while keeping a dense grid legible. Useful evidence for search-results architecture, content-moderation interfaces, and multi-theme delivery.
