The proposition

VUZZ is a social network where the post is a voice recording rather than text. Users publish short audio, follow other voices, and browse a global feed. The distinguishing idea in the redesign is discovery by country: the primary feed is called World, every user carries a city and a flag, and the filter is a list of nations, so the product is framed as listening to what people sound like somewhere else.

Design direction

Fully dark mode, near-black grounds with a bright mint and teal accent used for actions and the contextual toolbar. Waveforms are treated as a primary graphic element, running full width beneath posts, so audio is visible as well as audible. Presented on a mint background in the composite, which sets the accent colour as the brand signature.

What was designed

  • World feed, a list of voices with avatar, name, city, and engagement stats (duration, likes, replies, plays), with verified badges
  • Contextual action bar appearing as a floating mint pill over a selected post, carrying reply, boost, download, share, and report or delete
  • Profile with avatar, country flag, handle and tagline, follower and play statistics across five metrics, a bio, an external link, and the user's posts with waveforms
  • Country and region browser, a searchable list beginning with Following and World then continuing through nations with flag icons, used as the main discovery filter
  • Record screen, a live waveform against a timeline scrubber with elapsed time and a prominent red record and pause control
  • Playback and post detail with caption, location attribution, and engagement counts

What it demonstrates

Audio-first interface design, which is unusual in the set: waveform as a core UI component, recording and playback controls, and a contextual action pattern that keeps a dense dark feed uncluttered. Also a clear example of redesign work, taking an existing product and re-expressing it with a sharper organising idea.
